Nature of Business: At the time of my employment the establishment was the
sole distributor of Unisys Products in Saudi Arabia providing hardware &
software support and maintenance for Unisys and other brand names such as
Triumph Adler, German product. Unix also provided total solutions to support
the sale of the Unisys & TA Systems.

Job Title: Analyst/Systems Sales Engineer
Work Details: I designed and implemented accounting modules on Unisys AT
PC using DBASE III. The modules had to be rewritten years later in C using
Unix development tools. I had to link the warehouse activities to Head Office
and add inventory and pricing modules; for that AT & T 3B2 Unix System
was used at Head Office. The communication was done in batch mode through
Unix UUCP "smart" office package and was running on the 3B2.
At a later stage they employed another two people, one for transferring the
data from dBase III to Unix, writing reports, learning and maintaining the
system as backup in case I left the company. The second persons job was to
maintain the system at the warehouse. In the meantime I was the Systems Sales
Engineer responsible for Unisys Products from A to Z. Unisys realized that
the trend on the computer market is no longer hardware sales but solutions
sales. I was hired to work in Systems as Systems Sales Engineer and mainly
because of newly launched products by Triumph Adler, I was responsible for
this product as well and I had to know it inside out from all the technical
and marketing aspects. I was trained on TA products. I had to develop
demonstrations and show it to many potential customers at Seminars. I
demonstrated TA Mini Computers on behalf of TA at the "Made in Germany"
exhibition in Riyadh. Technical work included writing codes in C, Windows
Development Kit. !
Designing buttons and scroll bars. I had to install the systems of many times
especially when new version and upgrades arrived. I also supported the Sales
Department in terms of pre sale support, sizing, pricing and configuring
the overall system. I had five projects with the Saudi Government and I trained
the users on the Unix environment and on the Unisys systems.

Work Details: I was hired by Robinsons & Partners who are an employment
agency in Australia to set the future strategies for the Information Technology
Department and automate the business functions for the society of St. George.
I maintained and managed the existing environment and carefully implemented
changes, developed the business systems to support corporate and user
requirements and its specifications. I designed Arabic software under dBase
III for special requirements for the Society. I also designed the internal
application under MS, in relation to Arabization. The Society had a Canon
machine L770 which has the facility to connect to the computer. I also wrote
a program by C language to the hardware which took 5 months to complete and
it was fully operational. Some hardware cards and cables were purchased from
computer suppliers.
Reason for Leaving: Contract of employment was only for 12 months.
