May I have a word with you?
Wednesday, 03-27-02
Well, as you meet today in the Lebanese capital, we want you to come up with
brave decisions that will positively affect the lives of our future generation.
The idea behind your summit was to preserve the unity of the Arabs; make
them feel proud of who they are; to plan a prosperous future to your populous;
and decide the outcome of your struggle. As you meet today, the world will
be watching your actions, reading your words, and perceiving your gestures!
Will you make us feel proud of being Arabs this time? And that is yet to
be seen. We have given up on the idea that your intellectual minds will produce
democratic societies in our midst, not after you have a new kingdom in your
Gulf. All we are asking this time, is just to make the right decisions. And
to keep us going until a better leadership comes and take us to salvation.
We expect the least from you! Not much really. Just the least of dignity,
the least of integrity and pride in your decisions. We will observe your
actions and review your statements, hoping against hope that you will finally
come to your senses, to your Arabic pride, and the brave decisions and action
of your ancestors. In the past, an Arabic woman screamed for help, after
she was pushed by an infidel. The ruler at that time sent his army to the
defense of this helpless woman, oh, the difference between then and now!
Today, children and women in Palestine are pushed and killed; the children
in Iraq are massacred; and you are busy with the collection of your
fortune and the protection of your worthless kingdoms.
May I have a word with you? An honest word! Let me tell you, you have failed
me, disappointed me, I consider you not a leader as of today. Prove me wrong
and come up with the right decision. Protect my dignity, protect the dignity
of my generation. We feel helpless not, but, we feel hopeless in your presence
over the leadership of my country, our country. I warn you, I beg you, come
with the right decision, be a leader, protect what has left to be protected!
Finally, be cautious, the element that is going to replace you is taking
shape, going through trial and error until it is ready to sweep you away
and send you to the garbage of history. Your decision today should reflect
the hopes of the nation. Defy, fight, and do not surrender. This is my word
today; thank you for listening. Good luck in your summit in Beirut.
