425 NOW!

Welcome back Mr. President.

Saturday, 11-17-2001

We have awaited your arrival Mr. President. It has been five years of agony and pain. The country is devastated, the economy is collapsed, our religion's image is tarnished, our women's emotional scars our deep, and in need of healing. Today, we welcome you with open arms, we welcome you to your capital, to your people.

Definitely, you know our suffering has been extending for more than twenty years. However, the last five were the most painful and humiliating in contrast to our rich heritage throughout the centuries of our existence. We were heavenly tested! We have seen the worst of human ignorance and backwardness. Now that you are back, would you promise us to maintain law and order, and bring back salvation to our country?

You are triumphant today! The people of Afghanistan are victors today! Did you see that elder woman? Did you see what she was doing? She was throwing stones at the corpse of a Taliban's soldier in revenging the death of her children! This new culture of revenge has entered our society. Your role today Sir is to unite us, to unite Afghanistan. Would you please bring the smiles back to our children, mothers, sisters, fathers, brothers, and neighbors?

We rely on you to do so, above all you are the President. Your temporary departure did not take your authority away, and your United Nation seat is ready for your representative to resume his/her role in joining the International community.

We wish you luck in your endeavour, hoping your government will bring justice, prosperity, unity and tolerance to Afghanistan.
