The Joy of Cooking.

Monday, 12-03-01

Yesterday, Sunday, I have discovered the thing that I have been looking to do for so long! The feeling was joyful, the time flied so fast that I didn't realize that I have spent three hours doing what I think is my new discovery, which will become part of my daily routine for the rest of my life. Yes, I did cook!

The only way I can share this feeling with my wife and kids is to cook for them delicious meals, (knowing that my wife would love the idea). Yesterday, I have discovered appreciation, next to the fact that I have learned new techniques of chopping onions, I also appreciate the food on my table. I appreciate the hard work my wife does for us in the family. Taking things for granted, a good and a healthful meal does not just present itself, somebody has to prepare it. Yesterday, I realized that person should be appreciated, and I declare my appreciation today!

Well, another aspect of cooking was the relieve of stress, working almost seven days a week, takes its toll on a person. Being in the kitchen yesterday was a stress reliever, a breakthrough in relaxation. I felt so relax after tasting the meal I prepared, and realizing it is good! My family was impressed by its good taste.

To the guys out there, I think you should try to cook as well, you might feel the relaxation. Hopefully you feel the joy that possessed me to tell you about my feeling while cooking. Exploring the art of cooking was the last thing on my mind.

Imagine yourself in a kitchen cutting chicken breast into small pieces, chopping onions and potatoes, or making a favorite salad dish. The sky is the limit to your experimental discovery. I really think you should try it.

Yesterday, I put my wife's apron on and stayed in the kitchen for about three hours doing nothing but chopping onions and cutting chicken and boiling rice. I tell you, it is a joy!

I don't think this new discovery is just a hobby, for the least, I hope not!
