Present Occupation
Software engineer in Nortel Networks working on the Traffic Operator Position
Services (TOPS) telephone switch. Nortel is one of the pioneer companies
in telecommunications. Nortel works with customers worldwide to design and
deliver data, Internet voice and video solutions that speed their success.
Primary responsibilities of position include software development for Nortel
(Digital Multiplex Switch) DMS 200 Operator Switches.
Experience
Nortel Networks (2.5 years: Jan. 1997 - present)
· Currently working on data communication utilities feature of TOPS
Internet Protocol (IP) project. The project involves connecting DMS switch
to Intelligent Workstation (IWS) operator positions via Internet. The individual
feature in this project involves developing a Command Increment (CI) tool
to test and debug IP communications through the data communications layer,
· Designed, developed, and tested Originating Line Number Search (OLNS)
foreign language feature. The feature involved servicing telephone subscribers
to automated announcement nodes and operators of their preferred language
using TCAP signaling.
· Designed, developed and tested TOPS Flex Automatic Number Identification
(ANI) feature. The feature added Flex ANI of 27 for coin phone and Flex ANI
of 29 for inmate callers.
· Worked as a co-op on Product Library System (PLS) and made LayMan
loads for the Redirection group in Generic Services Framework (GSF). Learned
and wrote code in Protel II for Generic Operational measurement, Alarm, and
Log (GOAL) classes. Wrote codes in Smalltalk to introduce graphics in the
Smalltalk Architecture Model (STAM) for the Redirection software design.
In the second term, worked on Problem Reporting Systems (PRSs) for Extended
Peripheral Module (XPM) verification group.
Durham Technical Community College (1.5 years: Jan. 1998 - present)
· Currently teaching introductory course in Visual Basic programming.
The course introduces programming in Visual Basic and covers the different
programming constructs.
· Taught Operating Systems Survey course for four semesters. The course
introduces concepts and theory behind an operating system. The course details
all the components of an operating system including memory manager, process
manager, file manager, device manager and the user command interface.
· Taught Unix Shell Programming course for two semesters. The course
introduces the Unix operating system kernel and utilities. The course covers
in detail programming in Unix Shell and the UNIX editors.
Wake Technical Community College (6 months: Jun. 97 - Dec.97)
· Taught Introduction to Visual Basic Programming course for one semester.
The course covers different programming constructs used in Visual Basic.
The course also introduces programming in MS Windows.
· Taught Data Structures course for one semester. The course covered
various data structures like Stacks, Queues, Linked-lists, B-Trees, AVL Trees,
Direct and Indirect graphs.
North Carolina State University (2 years: Aug. 94 - May. 96)
· Taught the introductory lab to Unix for three semesters. The lab included
introduction to the Unix operating system and different applications in Unix
like Frame Maker, Xess, Emacs, Interleaf, Dec Write.
· Taught the C++ introductory level lab for two semesters. The lab included
programming in C++ using conditional statements, loops, functions, arrays,
and structures.
· Taught the advanced C++ course for one semester as a teaching assistant.
The course included concepts of classes, inheritance, pointers, stacks, queues,

· Worked as a Unix lab operator for two semesters. Main duties involved
